Eric MassonLegal and Compliance Leader
Prior to working with Dental Whale, Eric rose to the rank of Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard. His most recent assignment with the Coast Guard was as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for the Seventh Coast Guard District in Miami, Florida. In that role he was responsible for the oversight of legal advice to all operational Coast Guard units in the Southeastern U.S and Caribbean Sea. In providing legal counsel on numerous subject areas, he supervised a robust staff of eleven attorneys and paralegals. Additionally, Eric’s legal acumen led to his selection as a military judge.
Other assignments in the Coast Guard include serving as the first assigned Coast Guard lawyer at United States Southern Command; staff attorney at Coast Guard Atlantic Area in Portsmouth, Virginia; staff attorney at Legal Service Command in Norfolk, VA; defense counsel at Naval Legal Service Office – Mid-Atlantic; Budget Officer at the Engineering and Logistics Center, Baltimore, Maryland; instructor at the International Training Division in Yorktown, VA; and Deck Watch Officer on the CGC DAUNTLESS home-ported in Galveston, Texas.
Eric graduated from The United States Coast Guard Academy with a B.S. in Management. He attended the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and received his Master’s in Business Administration. He received a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from the University Of Baltimore, Maryland and is licensed to practice law in Texas and Florida. He is admitted to practice in the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and is a member of the American Bar Association.
Eric and his wife Tiffany reside in Pembroke Pines, FL with their two daughters, Molly and Lyla, and their son, Nolan. Eric is an avid triathlete and enjoys coaching youth soccer.
